2010 Jaguar XF 5.0

Emergency Brake Reprogram

When the power/ battery is disconnected on the car your emergency brake will not operate and a fault will appear on your instrument cluster.  The fix is to reprogram the emergency brake system.

XF Reset Procedure

1.       First you need to disconnect the battery. I did this by removing the ground(-) cable from the battery and I did it for 15 minutes.

2.       Reconnect the (-) cable to the battery

3.       Start the car

4.       Press on the brake pedal several times to get a hard pedal ( you should not see anything related to the brakes on the instrument cluster)

5.       While still pressing on the brake, apply the electric emergency brake switch

6.       Release the electric emergency brake switch

7.       Release the footbrake

8.       Check instrument cluster for brake related errors.

9.       Apply the emergency brake a few times to make sure you do not have any errors.
