Jaguar Trunk Access With Dead Battery XK8

If you have a dead battery and you are unable to access the trunk using the button on the dash and remote you can use your key (black) at the trunk.  That key opening is located between the X&K on the right below the brake light as seen in this photo.  Please note that the valet (green) key will not open the trunk.  Also it seems that if the key is not used to open the trunk the lock has a tendency to seize up, I would recommend using the key to open the trunk on occasion and lubricating if necessary.

When the key option is not working and you need power to the car you can access the power supply from under the hood if you can get it open.  The Main Power Distribution is displayed below.  To get power to the trunk you could back feed power to the trunk from under the hood.  However; you must use caution not to cross the polarity of the power provided.  This could and will cause damage to the cars electrical system.  You need to know not to attempt to start the car from the terminals under the hood  This is why it is important to see that your key works in the trunk lock.
